Patient Testimonials
Jamie Johnson
What procedure did you have done?
Patellofemoral Joint Replacement (Partial)
How did you know it was time for your joint replacement?
I knew it was time for my knee to be replaced when I could hear my knee making crunching sounds while walking up the stairs one at a time, having to walk with a cane when my knee would swell after a plane ride or taking long trips in a car, the constant ache during the night, and when I began to fall while walking and my knee cap would slip out of place.
How has having your hip/knee replacement changed your life?
Since my knee cap has been replaced, I’ve been able to exercise on a regular basis, walk without a cane, my knee cap no longer moves out of place, and I have little or no pain during the night or at any other time.
Would you recommend Dr. Hodrick to your friends and family?
Without a doubt! I have already recommended Dr. Hodrick to my 16 year old son, several of my friends and people I barely know who are experiencing knee or hip pain.
Would you do anything differently?
NO! I’m very pleased with the decision I made along with Dr. Hodrick to have knee cap replacement surgery.
Was there anything special about Dr. Hodrick, SJRI or St. Thomas hospital that you would like to share?
When I first went to SJRI, I met with Dr. Morrison. He informed me that I needed to return for a follow-up visit, but due to my injury I would need to see one of his partners. At that very moment, I actually said to myself, I hope it’s not the new guy who’s probably fresh out of school. None the less, it was none other than the new guy, Dr. Hodrick. Reluctantly, I made the appointment before leaving. I prayed and thought about rescheduling to see if Dr. Morrison would reconsider and keep me as his patient. But, the answer I received was to at least give Dr. Hodrick a try and see what he thought about my injury. I also wanted to see if he was going to tell me I had to wait until I was older for replacement surgery like all the other doctors I’ve seen in the past. I have to say, it was the best decision I’ve made in a very long time.
Dr. Hodrick has a way of making you feel as if you are his one and only patient. He takes time to answer all the questions asked regarding your health and future based on joint replacement surgery. On the day of surgery, he actually visits you in the holding room before surgery. It’s also my understanding that he stops by your hospital room immediately after surgery to make sure you are doing well and to answer any questions you and your family members might have when the healing begins with your new replacement (I like to sleep longer than the average patient after surgery causing me to miss his visit, but the nurses informed me that he did stop by and call my room to check on me).
Even though my knee cap has been replaced and the healing has began, the thing that impressed me the most was when Dr. Hodrick called me at home to see how I was doing. This was totally unexpected. I was very impressed and have to admit that NO other doctor has ever done this. Would I recommend Dr. Hodrick? YES, without a doubt. Would I allow Dr. Hodrick to replace my other knee or hips? YES. Not because he made the phone calls or took the time to explain and answer all my questions. It’s for the mere fact that he has made all the pain go away in the exact manner that he promised. No more and no less. He did exactly as he stated.
Thank you, Dr. Hodrick for listening to your calling from above. You are truly one of the best doctors in the United States and without a doubt the most caring. It is my prayer that you continue to grow in your profession and remain as friendly and honest to others as you have been and still are to me.
Peace & Joy,
Jamie Johnson
